Here I am fly fishing Sespe Creek for wild rainbow trout with my dog (Willie) who has gone on to better fishing waters. Photo by: Cassandra Weir (She loves fly fishing Sespe creek as much as I do.)
Encompasses approximately 1.75 million acres. It is the third largest national forest in California and stretches 220 miles from it's northern part to it's southern part located in Ventura County. The Dick Smith, Sespe, Matilija and Chumash wildernesses make up our section of the National Forest.
There are hundreds of small streams that dot the entire region. Those in Ventura County (most noteable are Sespe creek, Matilija creek and Piru Creek) are filled with wild rainbow trout whose ancestors are steelhead trout and even golden trout, yes my research shows that at least one water if not others where planted with goldens years ago.
Many of the streams are easy to access but others require a fair amount of hiking and knowledge to find where the fish are. That's were my help as a guide can make the difference between you catching fish or not catching fish.
There are streams in Ventura County that offer fishing all year long. That affords me the opportunity to guide clients all year long.
Fly fishing Sespe creek, Matilija creek or Piru creek is something that ever fly fishermen should experience at least once in his or her life time.
Your “enjoyment and you catching fish” are what my guide service is all about. I love fly fishing Sespe Creek and our other backcountry streams. I have fished these Ventura County waters for over 20 years. I have fished the Sierra for over 30 years. (See - "About Me" for my complete bio)
My services are geared for every type of angler. It doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or seasoned flyfisher. If you have never fly fished I will give you a brief introduction into Fly Fishing covering equipment, insects & flies, rod design, knots, casting instruction and places to fish. If you are a seasoned fisherman I can show you some successful tactics I use and help you find were these wild trout hide.
These are just two comments from former clients I have guided ...
“ Randy is a great guide ...he is friendly, patient and a great teacher. We had never fished before ... he taught us how to cast and had us catching fish the first time out!” Mr. & Mrs. P.P.
“ I have fished for years in many waters ... Randy found fish in places I never would have thought they would be. He really knows his stuff!" J.G.
Come, join me and bring a friend for a day you will always remember.
TIGHT LINES ... ALWAYS,
RANDY WEIR
